The Goblin Gang is a Common card that is unlocked from the Jungle Arena (Arena 9). It spawns three Goblins and three Spear Goblins in a hexagon formation. The Goblins will spawn before the Spear Goblins. A Goblin Gang card costs 3 Elixir to deploy.

  • Even though the Goblin Gang spawns both Goblins and Spear Goblins at once, using both of these troops as two cards in the same deck has the advantage of being able to be deployed separately, such that they cannot be countered all at once by splash damage troops such as the Valkyrie.
  • Because of their placement, the Goblins in front, which have more health, will tank for the Spear Goblins behind, creating a mini-push, though the Goblins actually deal much more damage than the Spear Goblins.
  • It can be risky to deploy the Goblin Gang on one lane since The Log can completely counter the Goblin Gang for a positive Elixir trade. However, they can be used to bait the opponent's Arrows or The Log.
  • An Electro Wizard or a Valkyrie spawned on top of the Goblin Gang can make short work of this card and will be able to set up for a counter push.
  • This card can provide a decent distraction for enemy high damage single-targeting troops like the P.E.K.K.A or Prince, giving time for you to finish these troops off.
  • An unsupported P.E.K.K.A. can be defeated by a Goblin Gang in the right placement with the assistance of a Crown Tower.
  • The Goblin Gang can be used to surround and destroy non-360 degree splash units (excluding the Bomber due to its large splash range) as they will not be able to kill all of the spawned Goblins and Spear Goblins at once.
  • An Ice Spirit can tank one or two hits and then freeze a Crown Tower, potentially allowing the Goblin Gang to deal massive damage.
  • Using a Mirror and a Clone together on this card is a very risky strategy unless the player is certain the opponent has no splash damage, but it has the potential to swarm or rush the enemy.
  • A high Level Goblin Gang's Goblins will take three shots instead of two from the Crown Tower, allowing it to deal much more damage than if it was at equivalent Level. Keep this in mind whenever rushing a lane with a Goblin Gang.
  • The Goblin Gang can completely shut down a Goblin Barrel if timed properly.
  • When countering Elite Barbarians, placing the Goblin Gang with the corner most Goblin nearest to both Elite Barbarians will make them both attack one Goblin the entire time, increasing the time the Goblin Gang can stall them. This way, (assuming both cards are a similar level) only one heavily damaged Elite Barbarian will make it to the Tower.
  • The Goblin Gang can completely shut down a Hog Rider when timed correctly and placed in front of it.
  • When distracting a Mortar, placing the Goblin Gang in the centre will effectively optimize the amount of time the Mortar stays distracted, giving you more time to finish it off.
  • When defending against a lone Golem, take advantage of the range that the Spear Goblins have. Placing the Goblin Gang at a distance will prevent the Spear Goblins from being killed by the Golem's Death Damage so that the Spear Goblins defend against the spawned Golemites, preventing more damage from being dealt to the Tower.
  • The Goblin Gang can be used to defend against fragile air units like the Flying Machine and Minion Horde. The Goblins will tank the damage from the air units, while the Spear Goblins will attack the air units. This is especially key when defending against the Baby Dragon, as its damage is not enough to one-shot the Goblins.
  • The Goblin Gang can completely stop a lone Mega Knight if placed correctly.
  • Skeleton Army can be used as an alternative to the Goblin Gang. However, it has much less hitpoints per unit, making it weak to more spells, its Skeletons also move slower, making it less threatening in offense, and cannot hit air troops. In exchange, the Skeleton Army has more total damage than Goblin Gang and comes with more units.

History

2017

  • The Goblin Gang card was added to the game on 24/2/2017.
  • On 16/3/2017, a maintenance break, increased the Spear Goblins' projectile speed to 500 (from 350). This was done to fix some unexpected behaviour that the Spear Goblins showed.
  • On 12/6/2017, the June 2017 Update, decreased the number of Spear Goblins spawned to 2 (from 3). It also increased the distance between the Goblins upon deployment. This changed the description to match the number of troops spawned.
  • On 9/10/2017, the Epic Quests Update, decreased the Spear Goblins' attack time interval to 1.1 seconds (from 1.3 seconds).
  • On 12/12/2017, the Electrifying Update, decreased the Goblins’ damage by 6%.

2018

  • On 25/4/2018, the Clan Wars Update, decreased the Spear Goblins' attack time interval to 1.2 seconds (from 1.1 seconds).
  • On 4/6/2018, a Balance Update, increased the Spear Goblins’ damage by 34%, but also increased their attack time interval to 1.7 seconds (from 1.2 seconds) and increased their first attack time interval to 0.5 seconds (from 0.2 seconds).
  • On 2/7/2018, a Balance Update, decreased the Goblins' hitpoints by 1%. This was to fix an inconsistency with Minions that could not take out Goblins in two hits at the same Level.

2019

  • On 4/3/2019, a Balance Update, gave the Goblin Gang a new 0.15 seconds deploy stagger from each other.

2020

  • On 2/6/2020, a Balance Update, decreased the deploy stagger for each Goblin to 0.1 seconds (from 0.15 seconds).
  • On 31/8/2020, the Clan Wars II Update, added a card render to the Goblin Gang's card info screen.

2021

  • On 27/10/2021, the Champions Update, increased the Level cap of all cards to 14 (from 13).

2022

  • On 4/10/2022, a Balance Update, increased the number of Spear Goblins spawned to 3 (from 2). This also changed the description to match the number of troops spawned.
  • On 26/10/2022, the 2022 Quarter 3 Update, increased the Goblins' first attack time interval to 0.4 seconds (from 0.2 seconds).

2023

  • On 4/4/2023, a Balance Update, increased the Spear Goblins' range to 5.5 tiles (from 5 tiles).
  • On 19/6/2023, the Card Evolution Update, increased the Level cap of all cards to 15 (from 14).

  • Goblins are small, grotesque, monstrous creatures that appear in the folklore of multiple European cultures. First attested in stories from the Middle Ages, they are ascribed conflicting abilities, temperaments, and appearances depending on the story and country of origin, ranging from mischievous household spirits to malicious, bestial thieves. They often have magical abilities similar to a fairy or demon, such as the ability to shapeshift. Similar creatures include duendes, kobolds, leprechauns, and ghouls.
  • It is 1 of 2 cards that spawns different troops at once, the other being Rascals.
  • The Goblin Gang is 1 of 8 cards to have an alliterative name, the others being the Royal Recruits, Mega Minion, Goblin Giant, Cannon Cart, Barbarian Barrel, Ram Rider, and the Mighty Miner.
  • Even though the Goblin Gang spawns 6 Goblins, the card render displays 5 Goblins, due to the fact that the card used to spawn 5 troops.
  • Their Star Level 3 Skin grants them a red mohawk similar to the Level 6 Goblin in Clash of Clans.
  • The Goblin Gang was featured in the winning deck of the King's Cup II Tournament, by a player called Surgical Goblin.
