Legendary Arena
“Arenas are the battlefields where players compete.”

Arenas are unique battlegrounds that are unlocked as the player's Trophy count increases. Each Arena, besides the Legendary Arena, is part of the Trophy Road and will unlock new rewards, like Chests, and players with a higher Arena level will contain more Gold and Cards. Once a player advances to a higher Arena, they cannot be demoted to a lower Arena.

Unlockables

  • Certain features are unlocked when the player reaches new Arenas rather than Experience levels.
  • Goblin Stadium (Arena 1) unlocks TV Royale and the Shop.
  • Bone Pit (Arena 2) unlocks a separate 500-Chest cycle, with each cycle containing one Mega Lightning Chest.
  • Spell Valley (Arena 4) allows Chests to award different Wild Cards.
  • Builder's Workshop (Arena 5) unlocks the higher tier Pass Royale rewards.
  • P.E.K.K.A's Playhouse (Arena 6) unlocks the Fortune Chest's ability to guarantee “Daily Fortune” Cards. It also adds Epic Chests to the 500-Chest cycle and unlocks Epic Cards.
  • Electro Valley (Arena 11) adds Legendary Chests to the 500-Chest cycle and unlocks Legendary Cards. It also upgrades the King's Chest to the Legendary King's Chest, which guarantees one Legendary Card and adds the feature to choose one card between two. It also unlocks the ability to buy Legendary Cards in the Shop for 40,000 Gold.
  • Miner's Mine (Arena 15) unlocks Path of Legends.
  • Executioner's Kitchen (Arena 16) unlocks Champion Cards.

History

2016

  • 7 Arenas were present during Clash Royale's game launch on 4/1/2016, those being Training Camp (Tutorial), Goblin Stadium (Arena 1), Bone Pit (Arena 2), Barbarian Bowl (Arena 3), P.E.K.K.A's Playhouse (Arena 4), Spell Valley (Arena 5) and Royal Arena (Arena 6).
  • On 2/2/2016, the February 2016 Update, introduced a new Arena, Legendary Arena, at 3,000 Trophies, and removed the battle costs for Battles & Friendly Battles. Previously, the Battle costs for the Arenas were: 1 Gold for the Goblin Stadium, 2 Gold for the Bone Pit, 3 Gold for the Barbarian Bowl, 4 Gold for P.E.K.K.A's Playhouse, 5 Gold for Spell Valley and 6 Gold for the Royal Arena.
  • On 29/2/2016, the March 2016 Update, introduced a new Arena, Builder's Workshop, at 1,700 Trophies, and pushed the lower limit of Royal Arena to 2,000 Trophies. Builder's Workshop became the new Arena 6 while Royal Arena and Legendary Arena became Arenas 7 and 8 respectively.
  • On 1/3/2016, a maintenance break, fixed Arenas 6 and 7 showing swapped numbers for some players.
  • On 3/5/2016, the May 2016 Update, increased the donations, requests and the daily donation limit based on the Arena the player is currently in. It also made it possible for Legendary Cards to appear in the Shop for the players who have reached the tenth Arena. In addition, TV Royale now has replays from every Arena.
  • On 4/7/2016, the Tournaments Update, introduced a new Arena, Frozen Peak at 2,300 Trophies. This would take Legendary Arena's place to become the new Arena 8 while Legendary Arena became Arena 9. It also allowed players to select the Arena where a Friendly Battle would happen.
  • On 19/9/2016, the September 2016 Update, added Arena Packs in the Shop, one-time offers that offered Chests, Gold, and Gems for real-world money.
  • On 15/12/2016, the December 2016 Update, introduced a new Arena, Jungle Arena, at 2,600 Trophies, that was later released on 13/1/2017. Legendary Arena became Arena 10 while Jungle Arena took its place as Arena 9.

2017

  • On 13/3/2017, the March 2017 Update, renamed the old Legendary Arena (Arena 10) to Hog Mountain and made a new Legendary Arena available from 3,800 trophies and above. Despite Legendary Arena moving up in trophies, you will still be able to get Legendary Cards in the Shop from 3,000 Trophies. It also changed the sound effect of the Jungle Arena. Previously, the sound effect was identical to that of the Frozen Peak Arena.
  • On 9/10/2017, the Epic Quests Update, added a new Arena exclusively used in Touchdown mode.
  • On 12/12/2017, the Electrifying Update, introduced a new Arena, Electro Valley, at 3,400 Trophies. Legendary Arena became Arena 12 while Electro Valley took its place as Arena 11.

2018

  • On 25/4/2018, the Clan Wars Update, added a new Arena exclusively used in Clan Wars.
  • On 20/6/2018, the Summer 2018 Update, changed the Arena at which a Card can be unlocked of many Cards in the game. It also made it so that matches above 4,000 Trophies would now have a 3 minute overtime.

2019

  • On 28/1/2019, the January 2019 Update, introduced a new Arena, Spooky Town, at 3,600 Trophies, and moved Legendary Arena to 4,000 Trophies. As a result, some Cards were moved to different Arenas. It also changed the Trophy requirement for some Arenas.
  • On 15/4/2019, the April 2019 Update, added the “Trophy Gate”. When the player reaches a new Arena, they cannot drop back down to a previous Arena. However, players can still be demoted to a lower League. The Draft Chests received at the end of each season were also replaced with the Trophy Road, where reaching certain Trophy counts will immediately reward the player with a prize. In addition, getting promoted to a higher Arena or League would reward the player with a Chest boost, where Chest unlock timers are halved for 24-hour.
  • Starting from 1/7/2019 with the July 2019 Update, Legendary Arena would now change skins based on Season.

2020

2021

  • On 7/6/2021, the Summer 2021 Update, added 2 new Arenas called Rascal's Hideout (Season 10 Arena) and Serenity Peak (Season 7 Arena) as Arenas 13 and 14 respectively, at 4,200 and 4,600 Trophies respectively, with Legendary Arena being moved to 5,000 Trophies. As a result, some cards were moved to different Arenas, including certain Cards being unlocked in Legendary Arena, and with Epic Cards only being able to be unlocked after reaching Arena 2. League requirements were also adjusted, with each League requiring 1,000 more Trophies to enter respectively.

2022

  • On 26/10/2022, the 2022 Quarter 3 Update, added 5 new Arenas called Miner's Mine (Season 34 Arena), Executioner's Kitchen (Season 27 Arena), Royal Crypt (Season 17 Arena), Silent Sanctuary (new to that update), and Dragon Spa (Season 11 Arena), at 5,000, 5,500, 6,000, 6,500, and 7,000 Trophies respectively, with Legendary Arena being moved to 7,500 Trophies. It also removed the League system from the Trophy Road and moved it to the new Path of Legends instead. In addition, P.E.K.K.A's Playhouse became the new Arena 6, while Spell Valley and Builder's Workshop became Arenas 4 and 5 respectively. As a result, some cards were moved to different Arenas, with Epic Cards only being able to be unlocked after reaching Arena 6 and Legendary Cards only after reaching Arena 11. Champion Cards would also be unlocked only after reaching Arena 16. Entering a new Arena would now also require reaching a specific King Level.

2023

  • On 27/3/2023, the Losers Update, added a new Arena exclusively used in Path of Legends.
  • On 24/5/2023, a maintenance break, changed the King Level requirements for certain Arenas.
  • On 19/6/2023, the Card Evolution Update, added 3 new Arenas called Boot Camp (Season 46 Arena), Clash Fest (Season 39 Arena), and PANCAKES! (Season 37 Arena), at 7,500, 8,000, and 8,500 Trophies respectively, with Legendary Arena being moved to 9,000 Trophies.

Trivia

  • It is possible for the player to be matched with someone in a higher Arena and obtain a Chest from that Arena without actually being in that Arena, typically due to being right outside the next Arena's Trophy Gate. This can also occur both ways in 2v2 Battles if the player is partnered up with someone of a different Arena level. The Chest you get is based on the Arena in which you battle in, not your current one. This means that you can get Cards from an Arena that you have not reached yet.
  • Some Trainers in the Training Camp have Cards that do not fit their Trophy counts. For example, Trainer Sybil is fought in Arena 6 and is shown to use Lightning in the deck, despite Lightning being normally unlocked in Arena 8.
  • The Arena is 32 tiles long at its longest point and 18 tiles wide, and it has two bridges. The bridges are 2 tiles wide in Arenas 1-6 and 8-9; however, in Arenas 7 and 10-23, the bridges are 3 tiles wide.
  • Even though the Mini P.E.K.K.A's description states that the Arena is a butterfly-free zone, a butterfly can be seen flying in the Training Camp picture.
  • From the Hog Rider's description, it is implied that the Arena has doors leading to it.
  • The Arena icons look similar to the Scenery icons in Clash of Clans, with both sharing a similar art style as well as the same dark foundation on the bottom of the icons.
  • Certain Arenas inspired other places in other Clash games. More specifically:
  • Certain Arenas share names with other places in other Clash games without sharing visuals. More specifically:
  • Training Camp, Frozen Peak, Hog Mountain, Electro Valley, and Spooky Town unlock the most Cards, with 8 Cards each, Dragon Spa, Boot Camp, Clash Fest, PANKCAKES!, and Legendary Arena unlock the fewest Cards, with 0 each.
  • Barbarian Bowl, P.E.K.K.A's Playhouse, Miner's Mine, and Silent Sanctuary are the only Arenas to have alliterative names.
  • Royal Arena, Jungle Arena, and Legendary Arena are the only Arenas to have the word "Arena" in their names.
  • Hog Mountain, Rascal's Hideout, Royal Crypt, Silent Sanctuary, Dragon Spa, Boot Camp, and Clash Fest share the same sound effect. Royal Arena also shares its sound effect with the Touchdown Arena.
  • Some Arenas are decorated with Clash of Clans buildings that aren't added to Clash Royale as Cards. This includes the Archer Towers and Barracks in Arena 3, Spell Factories in Arena 4, the Gold Storage in Arena 9, and the Gem Mine in Arena 15. Also, the Clock Tower, and the Workshop could be inspired by Arena 5's design.
  • In Hog Mountain, 2 Hog Rider statues can be seen behind the enemy's King's Tower.
  • In Royal Crypt, Skeletons can be seen sitting in the audience.
  • Touchdown mode and Clan War Colosseum Duels both use an exclusive Arena different from the Training Camp and the 23 main Arenas.
  • Certain special game modes are conducted in specific Arenas. For example; in the Rage Challenge, all matches are conducted in the Spell Valley Arena.
  • It is implied that Builder's Workshop is the future version of Training Camp as the trees in Training Camp may have produced the wood in Builder's Workshop. Also a tree in Training Camp looks completely identical to another tree in Builder's Workshop, except this time it's cut down, further proving that Builder's Workshop may actually be the original Training Camp.
